After dominant performances against underpowered competition in ESEA Open, Devious has suffered back-to-back losses against BGNS Esports in ESEA Open and DFRAG Open Series 6, both on Cache. Alongside disappointing results against Finishers, Perfect World, and SympleTech, it’s safe to say time was up for Devious.
IGL Harper “Iceo” Tabb has acknowledged as much, with big changes announced on X (Twitter) on Sunday, August 18. Former DXA IGL and AWPer Reegan “CrackBaby” Bell and Tom "Tommy" Malone have been called in to replace Mio “mio” Cornelius and Morganne “morganne” Franici in the active lineup.
“It’s been a wild ride with this team so far, and it looked to be a roster with a lot of promise, especially with morganne and mio playing well at times and showing promise,” Iceo said.
“However, the development of the roster created slight issues, especially with the obvious larger divide in experience, which meant we struggled. It also meant our floor, and to some extent our ceiling, was wildly inconsistent.”
Iceo and Elijah “Coach Parnell” Parnell played in the same pug-stack roster for GALA Counter-Strike Season One alongside Tommy; their team Bringing Sexy Back took out the top spot, and now, Tommy’s addition to the Devious roster full-time was his reward for his efforts.
“After playing the GALA LAN with Tommy I saw his potential, and Reegan was our priority target of the people we trialed last time, so it sort of came full circle after LAN,” Iceo said.
Devious has plenty of experience, and while they’ve lost two young and talented prospects in the scene in mio and morganne, Iceo was quick to praise his former teammates.
“Morganne and Mio are fantastic. Both of them in the right environments, will make teams better. For us, we have some pretty experienced players, but we needed some more experience for the game style we want to play.
"[Morganne and Mio] are super dedicated, and if I could have made it work with them in the short-to-medium term, we would have kept them.”
The next time this Devious roster plays will be in ESEA Open against Underworld Knights on Wednesday, August 12.
DXA removes Fayke, Myst after LAN disappointment
Following a rough outing at HyperX Intel Nationals in Brisbane, DXA has parted ways with former IGL Jaymes “Fayke” Fake and star rifler Rohan “Myst” Dube. In their place, they’ve brought in former coach Ming “Mingovi” O'Mallon into the starting five alongside ex-Australia5 rifler Junn "Junn" Ting.
Parting ways with an IGL is never easy, especially when you replace them with your coach; however, Mingovi filling in for the DXA side seems to have sparked a renewed interest in playing again for the former KZG captain, where he takes his spot at the helm of the roster.
Myst's removal seems to be a different story altogether. Former DXA owner Chris “Monitor303” Robinson claimed the entire point of the organisation was to get teams and players into a LAN environment. Myst has consistently missed these events, which was later confirmed with rifler Zoot.

“We watched a few of [Junn's] demos, and he looked sharp and confident," Zoot said. "He can also come to LANs unlike Rohan [Myst], which really f**ked us and was something we unfortunately had to hold him accountable for, hence the roster change.”
Junn joining this lineup is interesting. The former Australia5 rifler has left the comfort of Ronan “Rodizzle” Oziemski and joined one of the top-ten squads in the region after a very strong performance at GALA LAN that saw Aus5 reach the playoffs.
Clean sweeping their group with Junn a major contributor, he perfectly swaps for Myst and his roles, and will be their new star in the server.“We were drawn to Junn because of the numbers he had been putting up whilst playing for Australia5,” Zoot said.
When asked about how Mingovi will fit into the roster as a former coach and the role he will play, Zoot was clear there was going to be one caller in the server — and he thinks that DXA got one of the best in the business.
“We've needed a bit more stability in our teamplay, and it shows in our fluctuating results, so I think it's a positive change,” Zoot said.
“There are few IGLs in OCE who can piece together rounds the way he does and I think it's something that will really uplift us as a team. Over the past six months, he has developed us as players already so there won't be a massive shift.”
The Junn pick-up was a wild and unexpected move, especially compared to the past pick-ups DXA have made, where they have stayed with more stable and predictable players.
