Perfect World has won the rights to host Counter-Strike's second CS2 Major of 2027, with the organiser confirming Shanghai as the host city for the esports' pinnacle tournament.
The Chinese-based organiser revealed the country would be hosting the November and December 2027 Major on social media, with fans given a chance to guess which city would host the event.
But on Sept. 15, Perfect World confirmed the event would return to Shanghai — three years on from the 2024 Shanghai Major — where we saw donk's Team Spirit beat out FaZe Clan to win the $500,000 USD prize.

"This is the second time that Shanghai to host a Major following 2024, and 2027 also coincides with the tenth anniversary of the CS’s launch in the Chinese mainland, as a top-tier CS tournament will once again meet fans from around the world in Shanghai for a grand reunion," Perfect World said.
It was known as early as January that Shanghai and Perfect World had been chosen, with sources close to HLTV confirming the locations for both 2027 CS2 majors.
The Perfect World 2027 Shanghai Major will follow the FiReSPORTS Buenos Aires Major in May, with Argentina set to host CS2's biggest tournament for the first time.
It will be the third-straight CS2 major to be held outside of Europe, following IEM Cologne in May. The major circuit may not return to Europe until at least 2029, with unconfirmed rumours suggesting Brazil, Australia, and the U.S. are the frontrunners to play host to the 2028 editions of the event via organisers ESL (May) and BLAST (November).
Dates for the 2027 Perfect World Shanghai Major is set to begin Nov. 22 and will run through until mid-December. For more Asia and OCE CS2 news, stay tuned to DFRAG.
