FlyQuest recruits Gratisfaction as stand-in for HyperX Intel Nationals

With Portuguese AWPer story departing the roster for home, FlyQuest has looked inward into the Oceanic region for a fifth ahead of this week's HyperX Intel Nationals in Brisbane, opting for a face familiar to many both at home and abroad.

Sean "Gratisfaction" Kaiwai will link up with the squad, with FlyQuest confirming the pick-up on Tuesday, July 14. The move is not permanent, with FQ stating Gratisfaction will be a stand-in for the Aussie event only at this time before the squad embarks overseas for the season ahead.

Many will remember Gratisfaction for his time on Grayhound Gaming and Renegades during the late 2010s, with the Kiwi sniper an important piece in RNG's epic 2019 season that included a top-four finish at the Berlin Major and a top-eight finish at the Katowice Major.

This week's appearance is a Renegades reunion of sorts, with Gratisfaction joining ex-teammates jks and AZR for the first time since they parted ways at EXTREMUM in 2021.

Fellow RNG, 100 Thieves, and EXTEMUM teammate Liazz will suit up against Gratisfaction for THUNDERdOWNUNDER, with the two likely to meet in this weekend's playoffs.

After bouncing around as a stand-in in OCE with Encore, Gratisfaction joined NKT with ex-Grayhound's erkaSt and ex-EXTREMUM's BnTeT, but the squad was unable to achieve its goals in the region, and Grat spent the bulk of 2024 away from competitive play.

He returned to action midway through 2025 as a member of Southeast Asian squad Alter Ego, where he grinded back his form in the hopes of qualifying to the IEM Cologne Major. However, he was benched and departed the squad in June after they were unable to make the pinnacle event.

You'll be able to catch Gratisfaction and FlyQuest when they begin their HyperX Intel Nationals campaign in Brisbane against DXA on Friday, July 17.
