Ex-TYLOO, ViCi rifler Freeman links with OCE core Only One Word

Ex-TYLOO, ViCi rifler Freeman links with OCE core Only One Word

Hong Kong native Cheung "Freeman" Wing-hei, last seen with Indonesian org Alter Ego, has returned to competitive CS2 with OCE-based Only One Word.

Team captain Eddie "Viridian" Azzi confirmed the move during a Twitch stream on Feb. 24 and later in a statement to DFRAG. Freeman will link up with fellow Hong Kong representative Tsz Yu "sunshinez" Song, who currently is the team's substitute.

Freeman was part of the Lee "XigN" Hyun-pyo led Alter Ego for the last quarter of 2024 with hopes of qualifying for the Shanghai Major. The squad fell at the hands of Lynn Vision, after which the org parted ways with the team.

Before Alter Ego, Freeman famously represented the likes of ViCi and Flash Gaming, locking in a first major appearance at 2019's IEM Katowice before he headed to TYLOO. There, he secured the Chinese org a spot at the StarLadder Berlin Major, but was benched in 2020 during the COVID online era.

He returned to TYLOO in 2022 but couldn't crack a big event appearance following the rise of Lynn Vision, Rare Atom, and Wings Gaming. His contract ultimately expired, leaving him team-less in 2024 until the Alter Ego project saw him join XigN and BnTeT.

He joins Only One Word—previously known as The Art of War—in a bit of a tumultuous time. The Aussie squad rose to prominence in 2024 to secure a strong foothold heading into the VRS era in 2025, but numerous roster swaps and substitutes impacted preparation.

A further complication arose in February. As Viridian explained to DFRAG, an official with stand-in Saxon "kibstar" Monk was played one day before a VRS update, after which kibstar was added to the squad's core by the system.

"To maintain our core, we have to bring Hugo 'Oath' Correia back," Viridian said, adding Oath had originally departed the roster due to time constraints. However, Viridian confirmed Oath would return due to the VRS recognizing the old core in the interim.

"We're grateful for the free time Oath is sparing, and the high energy, firepower, and positivity he brings to the team," Viridian said. Once Terryy's status is fixed, sunshinez will be promoted to the starting lineup in place of Oath.

As for the team name change, Viridian said Only One Word is an homage to the former Hong Kong-based team of the same name which Freeman himself represented back in 2021.

The full Only One Word squad is now:

Hugo “Oath” Correia
WingHei “Freeman" Cheung
Eddie “Viridian” Azzi (C)
Ryan “BaN4na” Ng
Lam-Fung “Terryy” Lee

Tsz "sunshinez" Yu Song (substitute)
Damon "cray" Smith (coach)
