Hey there, just a heads up!
Your inner voice shapes how you approach challenges in-game and in life. Learn how to identify and combat negative self-talk, and replace it with positive, empowering thoughts that boost your performance and resilience in the face of pressure.
I’ve spoken about ‘self talk’ in some of my previous videos
‘Negative self talk’ refers to the messages inside your head that might be voices you hear (that you can attribute to yourself, a parent, or somebody else), or voiceless thoughts that you have that criticise you
In both cases (voices and thoughts), I’m talking about the same thing
Let’s have a look at the two common ways to deal with a negative voice
Method 1: Using Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) methods Method 2. Using traditional Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) methods
Activity:
Pair up with somebody and stand up. One person in each pair raises an arm so it is parallel with the ground. The other person in the pair will try to push their partner’s arm downward, and that person should try to resist if possible. There will be some resistance offered, but it’s generally pretty easy to push a person’s arm downward.
