Vitality shows why they’re the best with a decisive 2-0 win over FlyQuest

Vitality shows why they’re the best with a decisive 2-0 win over FlyQuest

Corey “nettik” Browne made his LAN debut for FlyQuest today in their IEM Melbourne opener against world number one ranked team Vitality—but it wasn’t to be for the home team, falling to the loser bracket with a 0-2 (2-13, 8-13) defeat.

Vitality have been lifting trophies left and right this year, coming off a first place finish at BLAST Open Lisbon in March. In our IEM Melbourne 2025 preview, three out of four DFRAG.gg experts predicted that Dan “apEX” Madesclaire’s squad will take home the crown at the first ever tier-one Counter-Strike event hosted in Victoria.

The series kicked off on Anubis where FlyQuest struggled from the start, dropping the first seven rounds on their own map pick being no match for Vitality’s early T-side pressure. FlyQuest’s struggles persisted in the second half, closing out the map with a lopsided 13-2 defeat.

Nuke showed a bit more promise from The Boys, with individuals showing glimpses of how they can play domestically. Nettik (16-15, 0.99) showcased some sharp shots and proved the 21-year-old rookie belongs amongst the top OCE players. Nuke concluded with a 13-8 scoreline as Vitality closed out the series 2-0 in FlyQuest’s LAN debut with this roster.

It was clear that FlyQuest had a lack of basic team cohesion as they started out the tournament looking a bit lost on Anubis. FlyQuest have somewhat overhauled their roster in 2025, moving veteran IGL Christopher “dexter” Nong to the bench on March 14 in favor of giving Joshua “INS” Potter another shot at leading the team.

FlyQuest should aim to show consistent improvement as the event progresses, gaining crucial LAN reps as they gear-up to be in peak form for the BLAST Austin Major, now just under two months away.

FlyQuest play Virtus.pro next after their 2-1 loss against Team Liquid in the first round, as the hopes of OCE Counter-Strike continue their IEM Melbourne campaign down in the Group B lower bracket.
